  3. Allegro

Küchler took his first job as principal violist of the Symphony Orchestra in Basel, also playing viola in a string quartet, and later began teaching violin at the local music school. In 1898 he was appointed a violin teacher at the Hoch Conservatory in Frankfurt, and was also violist of the Heermann Quartet led by his former teacher. Küchler returned to Basel in 1910. The following year became director of a private music school and worked as a choral conductor. From 1927 to 1936 he taught violin at the Landeskonservatorium der Musik zu Leipzig (State Conservatory of Leipzig).

Küchler wrote textbooks on violin technique and composed instructive pieces for the violin including several student concertos. His two-volume Course of Violin Instruction (published by Hug-Verlag, Zürich) was a cornerstone of the violin instructional literature until the mid-1960s.

What Our Clients Are Saying

Violin Friends by Lauri Hämäläinen is a lovely series of violin books for beginners. You will find innovative teaching methods for the basics of violin playing for young students. The books come with instrument-specific preparatory exercises, familiar songs, scales and small etudes as well as arrangements of masterpieces by great composers. Most of the pieces are arranged for a duo or trio, so the young beginners can enjoy playing together right from the start. Additionally there is a Violin Friends – YouTube channel, where you can find engaging play alongs to all the pieces in the books. This series is really a great resource for young violin players and their teachers!
Andrea Holzer-Rhomberg (author of the Fiedel-Max-series)

Lauri Hämäläinen's Violin Friends is an excellent violin school! The layout with colorful pages is really well done, and the traditional songs combined with insightful exercises are a great combination with the repertoire. Extra pluses also from the use of new technology with notebooks. One of my students excitedly told me in the first lesson of the fall that he had received €600 by playing Violin Friends notebooks in the summer at the local market! Markus Tyrväinen, Violin teacher and lecturer at the Tampere Music Concservatory, Finland.

Violin Friends series by Lauri Hämäläinen are fun and useful books for beginners and children to learn violin. The books are colourful with lots of interesting drawings. There are lots of duets and ensembles that players can play and enjoy music together. Violin Friends is an inspiring material for teachers and students to have!
