Lauri Hämäläinen has been teaching violin, viola, and orchestral playing in Finland and Sweden for over 30 years. He is playing viola in various orchestras and chamber music ensembles, duos and string quartets.
Lauri published the first versions of the violin books and viola books for beginner and intermediate students in 2016. The repertoire in the violin books had to be as motivating for the students as possible. Exercises in violin technique, short pieces, easy chamber music and concertinos got their place in the same music book. In 2018 ergonomic exercises was included after studies with Ulla Magnusson in Sweden.
Lauri is a Finnish-Swedish musician with a love for sport, music, arts in general and the Mediterranean way of life. Violin Friends is a family of music books. The purpose is to share musical moments with friends. Sharing moments with friends is very close to Lauri.
The purpose of Violin Friends and Viola Friends is to give joy and happy moments with music to all students. The aim is also to make teaching easy and more effective with the help of the music books, play-along videos, simplified piano parts and mp3 backing tracks.
The author Lauri Hämäläinen is an active member in the Finnish String Teachers Association (SJO), The Finnish Viola Society (SAS) and The European string Teachers Union (ESTA).
